Tsinghua Financial District
2014
Changchun, China
Changchun means eternal spring, characterized here in our competition as the movement of water under a frozen river. Around the world, there is a shift in the spatial organization of research and innovation, with companies and workers opting for tech cities and urban environments over the outdated model of isolated suburban campuses. This new model 'the Innovation District' is an eternal spring, a network of people and organizations working together as educational institutions, policymakers, customers, innovators and accelerators. They are clustered in catalytic zones connecting them to mixed-use housing, offices, retail, educational institutions, industry and modern urban amenities. This new innovation district, connected by the “river”, is intended to be a financial ecosystem creating a diverse and resilient cycle of environment and business, culture and commerce.
